My exhibit for Standing By 2020 is a window into my life, my passions, and my skills. As a central hub to organise my scatterbrain of thoughts and practices, the desk embodies the various aspects of my creative and personal projects. These include: gardening, an important part of my eco-friendly passion; academia, as I hopes to complete a Master of Philosophy; painting, a formative creative influence; sewing, significant to my practice as a costume designer and maker; and embroidery, a creative form of mindfulness. Looking onto the embroidery hoop, the video playing on this surface is a short look at these passions, with sound design by Ashleigh Bradfield. Across from the desk, a clothing rack displays all of the projects that I have sewn from scratch, with tags to feature my process, my materials, and my reflection on the ecological impact of each garment. My exhibit features the incredible lighting design of Isaac Stevenson.
